Upcoming closures, March-April 2026

Wednesday 25th March 2026 – the Reading Room and reader’s kitchen will be closed on this day. The main entrance space and exhibition will be open as usual.

Thursday 2nd April 2026 – the Library building will be closed to the public for Maundy Thursday.

Friday 3rd April 2026 – the Library building will be closed to the public for Good Friday.

Saturday 4th April 2026 – as we are closed for the Easter weekend, our monthly Saturday opening will be moved to the second Sunday of the month (11th April).

Monday 6th April 2026 – the Library building will be closed to the public for the Easter Monday Bank Holiday.

Please note that the Reading Room will be closed to the public on the following dates:

Wednesday 28th January 2026
Wednesday 18th February 2026

The rest of the building, including exhibition areas, will be open as usual. Thank you for your understanding.

Christmas Closure Dates, 2025-26

Library building (including reception and exhibition areas)	Wednesday 24th December 2025 – Friday 2nd January 2026
Reading Room, Readers’ Common Room	Tuesday 23rd December 2025 – Friday 2nd January 2026

There will also be no Saturday opening on the 6th December and 3rd January.

The Library email inbox will not be monitored over the closure period. Please bear this in mind if you are booking a Reading Room appointment for early January, or have a deadline for imaging requests. All services will resume as normal on Monday 5th January 2026.
